  • Daughter Gina Kesselring, a Physician Assistant, married to Grant Kesselring, a micro-circuit design engineer, with two daughters
  • Son Scott Hanson, a Production Manager for Rockwell-Collins, married to Allison Hanson, a nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals

  • Member of Fairfield Kiwanis, former President and Secretary
  • Former President of the Iowa Association of Safety Education
  • Business Manager of the Iowa Association of Safety Education
  • 1967 received the Fairfield Jaycee Outstanding Young Educator Award

  • 2003 named the National Driver Education Teacher of the Year runner-up
  • Over 40 years of active participation in local and state political events serving on many area and district committees
